MT. CARMEL, Ill. - Mt. Carmel and Wabash County authorities have announced they are investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman that occurred yesterday, Wednesday, May 9.
Information released on the situation has it that emergency responders were dispatched to a residence on 13th Street (neither East nor West 13th was specified) at 11:38 a.m. when the woman (whose name is still being withheld pending notification of her family) was found unresponsive.
The woman was taken to Wabash General Hospital, but she was pronounced deceased there.
Jeffrey Parrish
Two men who were living at the same residence were taken into custody by Mt. Carmel police after they were alleged to have provided false information to investigators: Anthony Parrish, 22, and Jeffrey Parrish, 45, were both arrested, both for Obstruction (the younger for providing a false name to authorities as well as for a White County warrant for Burglary to a Motor Vehicle).
A 13-month-old baby was taken into protective custody and turned over to a family member.
While foul play is not suspected, the woman's death remains under investigation by the Wabash County Coroner's Office and Mt. Carmel Police Department. They have been assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff's Office, Mt. Carmel Fire Department, Wabash General Hospital EMS, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.
