CLAY CO., Ill. - A woman from Clay City was cited yesterday after an evening crash in Clay County that injured three.
Illinois State Police said the accident occurred last night, Wednesday, January 24, at 7:18 p.m.
ISP said that a black 2008 Mazda being driven by Natasha Prather, 26, of Clay City, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 just west of Mayflower Road.
A maroon 2004 Buick being driven by Prentice S. Gibson, 35, of Evansville was stopped on the shoulder just east of the location of the Mazda.
The Mazda went across the center line, then overcorrected back to the right and struck the Buick in the rear.
The Buick was pushed further off the shoulder and came to rest. The Mazda continued for approximately 220 feet and ran off the roadway to the north and into the ditch, coming to rest upright in the ditch approximately 40 feet off the roadway.
Prather and a passenger, a juvenile, sustained injuries and were treated at Clay County Hospital and released.
Gibson was flown to Deaconess in Evansville for treatment of his injuries.
Prather was cited for Improper Lane Usage and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.
