WABASH COUNTY: Sheriff releases end-of-September activity report

WABASH CO., Ill. - Wabash County Sheriff Derek Morgan has announced department activity for the end of September, in which some folks were hemmed up on some serious charges.

Morgan reports that on Sept. 28 at 9:03 p.m., the Wabash County Sheriff's Office K9 Team stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 15 at E 400 Rd. (the entrance to Bellmont).

During the roadside investigation, K9 Roy was deployed and gave a positive indication there were narcotic in the vehicle.  

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded suspected methamphetamine. Mary K. Hegeman, 31, of Evansville, was taken into custody. Hegeman was transported to the Wabash County Jail and charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to deliver
  • Possession of Hypodermic Syringe
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Hegeman is currently in the Wabash Co. Jail awaiting a first appearance. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Illinois State police in this incident. 

On Sept. 29 at 4:24 p.m., the Wabash County Sheriff's Office K9 Team was dispatched to Highway 1 in Cowling to investigate a possible vehicle crash. During the roadside interview it was found that 52-year-old Omer D. Brumley of Evansville had a crash at some point. Brumley had a flat tire and had been seen throwing items out of the vehicle before law enforcement officers arrived. Brumley told a few different stories about the crash which concerned the deputy. K9 Roy was deployed and gave a positive alert for narcotics on the Brumley vehicle.  

Brumley was subsequently charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to deliver
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (suspected Bath Salts)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Brumley remains in the Wabash County Jail awaiting a first advisement and setting of bond. 

This arrest would not have been possible if it wasn't for the public's concern of suspicious activity. Sheriff Morgan has asked that when you see something out of the ordinary or suspicious in nature, call the Sheriff's Office. Methamphetamine remains to be an issue in Wabash County. The Sheriff's Office is dedicated to drive this drug out of our area in order to protect our citizens and their property. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Illinois State Police. 

Then early yesterday (Sunday, October 1), the Wabash County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the Patton are reference a domestic situation. During the field investigation it was found that Jacky L. Isham, 28, had struck a window of a vehicle, breaking it. Isham has been charged with Domestic Violence/Battery due to the glass breakage falling on minors sitting in the back of that vehicle. Isham was taken to the Wabash County Jail where he is awaiting the setting of bond.
