CARMI, Ill. - An assortment of arrests out of the city of Carmi occurred yesterday, with a Grayville man leading the report.
That'd be Billy Horn, 34, who was walking down Eighth Street in Carmi yesterday (Thursday, August 31) just after noon when an officer spotted him. Knowing Horn had an active warrant out of Wabash County, the officer yelled at Horn to stop, but Horn is reported to have just kept walking.
The officer was able to catch up to him, however, and placed him under arrest. While he was being searched, a white metal pipe generally used to smoke cannabis was found on his person; and of course, in the pipe was residue. Horn admitted it was cannabis residue, and he was transported to the jail, where he was held following a citation for Possession of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and the warrant. The pipe was tested and apparently showed positive for cannabis.
Horn was booked at White, but transferred to Wabash so they could deal with his problems over there.
Another arrest was effected on Thursday, this one occurring at 8:11 in the morning when an officer stopped Alexander R. May, 21, of Carmi, on Main Street at Fifth. May was cited for Driving While License Suspended and was able to post bond and was released, $170 lighter in the wallet.
Another warrant was served on the streets of Carmi, this one very early this morning (12:51 a.m. Friday, September 1) when Charles R. Hanmore, 53, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., was stopped in the vicinity of Iris Lane for speeding.
The arresting officer detected alcohol during the stop, and Hanmore was so cited. He was also cited for Driving While License Suspended...and a warrant arrest for failure to appear on an original White County charge of Domestic Battery.
