EDWARDS CO.— It is unclear if there something in the water or what but two Grayville couples have been jailed and charged with thumping on one another.

The first couple, identified as Lerryn E. Leavens, 37, and Timothy D. Herring, 51, both of 1209 North Court St., Grayville, have been charged with a single count of Domestic Battery each after police say on May 31 Herring bit Leavens on her right arm and Leavens scratched Herring about the face.

It is unclear, and will probably remain so, exactly who struck or bit whom first.

Leavens has a minor criminal history including a conviction February 18, 2005 of Disorderly Conduct for which she was sentenced to court supervision for 90 days and ordered to pay $341 in fines and fees.

Hit in face(s)

The second couple charged have been identified as Craig Tupper, 28, and Jessica M. Kieffer, 27, both of 417 North State Rd., Grayville, who have both been charged with a single count of Domestic Battery after authorities say on June 3 they both knowingly caused bodily harm to each other when they struck each other about the face.

Cash bond in the cases was set at $1,000 each.

Riding with protected person

An Evansville, Ind., man has been charged with Violation of an Order of Protection.

The formal charge alleges that on May 19 Brian S. Nelson, 38, of 755 East Delaware St., Evansville, Ind., intentionally committed an act prohibited by the OP when he allowed himself to be a passenger in a vehicle driven by Erin Givens, the protected person in question, while on Ill. Rte. 130 at Co. Rd. 700 East in Edwards County.

Nelson was released from police custody May 24 after a $1,000 cash bond was posted on his behalf by Ora O. Stutsman, of 4202 North Fulton Ave., Evansville, Ind.
