WABASH CO.— A Mt. Carmel man with a history of violence toward lawmen has been charged with fighting with police officers.
The formal charges allege that on June 2, Timothy L. McKinney, 36, of 127 East Eighth St., Mt. Carmel, committed two acts of Aggravated Battery when he, without legal justification, caused bodily harm to Detective Ryan Turner by punching him in the face and to officer Daniel Hopper by grabbing him by the throat, at a time when McKinney knew both officers to be acting in their official capacities.
McKinney’s criminal history includes a conviction of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia January 27, 2003 for which he was sentenced to court supervision for two years and ordered to pay $1,016 in fines and fees.
An April 20, 2007 conviction for Disorderly Conduct earned McKinney a sentence of probation for one year and was ordered to obtain medical/ mental treatment and to pay $440 in fines and fees.
At the time of his most recent arrest McKinney was already serving a probation sentence of two years after he was found guilty May 9, 2016 of Resisting a Peace Officer.
He was also ordered to pay $522 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $222.
Cash bond in the case was set at $4,000.
Conditions of that bond include that McKinney not be on the property of Jumpin Jimmy’s.
False 911 report
In an unrelated case, a Mt. Carmel woman has been charged with a felony after police say she made a false 911 report.
The felony count of Disorderly Conduct alleges that on April 28, Fayetta Williams, 81, of 1024 North Cherry St., Mt. Carmel, knowingly called 911 for the purpose of making a false alarm and reported information, a call for medical aid, when at the time the call was made she knew there were no reasonable grounds for making the call and knew the call could result in the emergency response of a public safety agency.
