WAYNE CO., Ill. - A truck driver from Indiana was hospitalized after an early-morning crash today on Interstate 64 in Wayne County.
Illinois State Police out of District 19 worked the 4:50 a.m. crash, which occurred at approximately the 116 mile post on I-64 this morning, Monday, June 19.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of a white 2017 International truck tractor/semi-trailer combination, Kevin S. Brothers, 40, of Washington, Indiana, was traveling westbound on 64 at that point when he reportedly heard a loud noise come from his vehicle.
Brothers lost control of his vehicle and ran off the south side of the roadway, where he struck a tree.
Brothers was transported from the crash scene by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Due to the damage from the crash, Brothers’ vehicles were towed from the crash scene.
An ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer (CVEO) was assigned to the crash investigation. In addition, ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Wayne County Ambulance Service and Rick’s Towing.
