MORE SENTENCINGS IN WHITE COUNTY COURT WEDNESDAY

WHITE CO., Ill. - Two others facing serious felony charges in White County have had their cases resolved today with sentencings.

White County State's Attorney Denton Aud announced today that Jessica L. Smith, 28, of Carmi, entered guilty pleas to the multiple felonies she was facing in his county.

These are Residential Burglary a Class 1 felony; Theft and Retail Theft, both Class 4 felonies; and two Class 2 felony counts of Burglary of a Vehicle.

Smith pled guilty to the offenses and was sentenced by the court to six year in Illinois Department of Corrections on each with two years mandatory supervised release to follow, all to run concurrently.

She was also ordered to pay restitution to the victims with a few various related the and trespass offenses dismissed.

"The Carmi Police Department did an excellent job in investigating and apprehending her," Aud said.

Zachary Bassemier, 26, also of Carmi, was sentenced to five years in DOC today on a probation revocation from a 2013 Class 3 felony Theft conviction. The Theft conviction was revoked for Bassemier committing other criminal offenses, including Criminal Damage to Property in 2014, and for a Class 3 felony Possession of Meth charge from earlier this year.

The sentence on the new charge is also five years DOC; however, he was also recommended to participate in the Impact Incarceration Program ("Boot Camp") while incarcerated in DOC. He is also to serve a year of parole following discharge.
