Welcome to the beginning of our THIRTEENTH YEAR of publication...and to all those who thumbed their noses at us on March 12, 2003 and said we wouldn't last with our "little newsletter" but a couple of issues...hahahahaaaaaaa.
Print Headlines are made available post-delivery of the current issue as well as post-delivery of the mailed version (mailings on Wednesdays, which is the stated street date) and post-posting (is that a term?) of the e-Edition (Mondays of release date). Print Headlines, in other words, appear when we can get em posted, which varies depending on how busy we are!
Print Headlines give you a glimpse of what's in the current issue, so you can either run out and get a copy (barring massive snowfalls and ice storms) or read the current issue right here at the comfort of your own computer or other electronic device with an online membership, which is just a couple of clicks away at any time!
Print Headlines are laid out by dateline (the location where the subject material took place), headline (which is an active link that takes you right to the article) and a brief synopsis, delivered with the ascorbic wit that makes people either love us or hate us; doesn't matter which, enough people read us to make it worth it. They are separated by Front Page, Back Page (a second front page), Pages 2 and 3, Egypt, Heartland, Central, Features (if any) and Op-Ed.
And now, without further ado, here are THIS MONTH'S PRINT HEADLINES for March 2015's issue!
FRONT PAGE
SALINE CO.---Cross-county fleeing ends in serious charges: The full story of the fairly horrible situation with a young Harrisburg punk and what's alleged to have happened between him and his much-older female consort who had been trying to get officials to pay attention to her claims against him...just prior to her house in Ledford burning to the ground. This is one of these coverages you won't read anywhere else.
RICHLAND CO.---More Richland residents go federal: The feds have taken a keen interest in the meth trade going on in on of our home counties, Richland. What's going on there is really not rivaled anywhere...and we have a ringside seat to all of it. Don't miss this in-depth article.
CRAWFORD CO.---Judge's son charged with Terroristic Threats: A much-expanded look at the report we brought you on deadline of this issue, wherein the strange little Robinson man, Greg Hill, has been charged with significant crimes...and how it's getting handled. Again...stuff you won't read elsewhere.
CLAY CO.---SEX OFFENSES FILED: The arrest of the Flora punk who has been trouble for years, and unaddressed trouble at that. Now, all that unaddressing has garnered this kid some very serious crimes, and no, the victim isn't to blame. See who is to blame, in this article...and, we might point out, we re-published in this article the full article that appeared four years ago this month in print about what Clay County parents were doing, begging authorities to stop Mychal Bush-King before things got more out of control than what they already were.
SALINE CO.---Inmate suicide: Was it suicide that was the manner of death of well-known Saline County resident Jeff Nolen? Authorities are stating that's their belief. Read the complete coverage here and draw your own conclusions to the matter.
BACK PAGE
HARDIN CO.---Ambulance operator's lie left stroke victim in the cold: Hardin County thought they had problems with their ambulance service when Wayne Eichorn and the late Ed Conkle ran it. Now, see what they're STILL putting up with...and what this might be doing to the taxpayers in the end.
HAMILTON CO.---Suspected Wabash arsonist charged in Hamilton County: Talk about your crossovers, of which we have MANY in this issue. This HamCo dude is in trouble regarding violation of an OP which occurred in White Co. and then of all things, authorities allege he went down to Wabash County and set fire to a house there in a totally random move. This guy needs put away...and his mug is proof, if his actions aren't enough.
LAWRENCE CO.---Lawrence man busted on armed robbery in Knox: This guy, Kurt Waller, must have really had an early start to have graduated to armed robbery charges at the tender age of 23. But is there more...? You betcha. We touch upon that in this article, with promises of expanded coverage of that little tidbit, coming up in future issues.
PAGE 2
SALINE CO.---Domestic that started in bedroom leads to boyfriend being charged as drug dealer: This happens a lot more frequently in Saline County than even WE like to acknowledge...
HARDIN CO.---Theft and violence charged, but can prosecutor do her job?: That's the question everyone is constantly asking about Hardin County prosecutor Tara Wallace...and unfortunately, most of the good peeps of HarCo know the answer to that.
PAGE 3
EFFINGHAM CO.---Missouri charges Larson with kidnaping, multiple sex crimes: The details that few have outlined while covering the sick situation alleged against Steve C. Larson, the Effingham karate instructor accused of abducting a 13-year-old student in late January....mainly not outlined by others because, well...they're fairly salacious. And, they probably haven't talked to the peeps in Missouri like we have. Read this in-depth article to see what you've been missing elsewhere.
CLAY CO.---Trio of failed burglars includes Saline convict charged with conspiracy in Clay: Again with the crossovers; when some of these crims get to going outside the boundaries of their home counties, they just can't help themselves.
RICHLAND CO.---Newton man charged with leaving minor at crash scene: More and more, we're seeing what SHOULD be adults behaving like mentally-challenged little brats when it comes to their own kids and how they should behave around them. This guy would be one. Wait til you see what he did.
EGYPT
HARDIN CO.---More financial troubles for public officials: Unless there are two Bertis Cooks (and in Hardin County, who knows), the president of the Elizabethtown village board has run upon hard financial times...just like a couple of former public officials before him in Hardin County. Is it a plague? Is Bertis going to be the NEXT "former" public official to welch on a credit card? Time (and the April 7 Consolidated Election) will tell.
SALINE CO.---Intoxicated dope cook busted with precursors: The dope roundup, in part, for Saline County. Idea: Don't get drunk when you're messing with your meth production. Always a bad idea.
HARDIN CO.---"Stay at home mom" sex abuse case spills into Hardin County: As promised last issue, the expanding story of more full-grown adults who view children as sex partners...allegedly, of course.
GALLATIN CO.---Underage drinkers focus of Gallatin crim report: There wasn't much criminal going on in GallCo this month...but this, on a small level, was.
SALINE CO.---Single mother of four busted for early morning boost: Another example of a person who is biologically a mom and mentally and emotionally...something else.
HARDIN CO.---Judge's note hammers prosecutor, Wallace charges man with new offense: Another Tarable situation in HarCo that you won't read anywhere else...likely because no one else who covers the area understands just what she's done this time.
SALINE CO.---Golconda woman ties record for stupid crim activity: And her last name is...wait for it...CRIM. Seriously. This is the FOURTH paper in a row she's been in with new charges. And...we've found out something else interesting about her that's going to put her in the NEXT issue (March 25) too. Wait til you see THAT.
HARDIN CO.---Formal charges filed in Hardin hostage case: This guy, Smock, was up to no good on the weekend in question and it got a little out of hand. Print version coverage for our readers in the area who don't have online access...and yes, there are still quite a few.
PAGE 12
WILLIAMSON CO.---IDOT decides to leave Crab Orchard Road as is: Do you think it might've been the enormous outpouring of public interest that prompted IDOT to change their plans to make a confusing U-turn at a spot in Williamson County? We do.
PAGE 13
SALINE CO.---Man who took advantage of post-tornado volunteer work loses in default judgment: What happens when you don't pay your bills? Ask Dan Moutria; he's in trouble all over the place for not doing so. But unfortunately, there's no debtor's prison...just additional angst for those who try to collect. Maybe I should start a service wherein I help by BEATING it out of people...
HEARTLAND
CLARK CO.---Park district ballot chaos underscores election: Coverage of the imbecilic crap that's going on with the elections of the Clark County (Mill Creek) Park Board...we're pretty sure it goes on in just about every election, everywhere, but these guys have raised it to an art form. BAD art, but art nonetheless.
CRAWFORD CO.---DUI pops up in charged city treasurer's criminal history: Denise Jobe, still not answering our inquiries, has been discovered to have a bit of a criminal history that probably few know about. We're wondering if the "domestic" battery alleged victim knew about it...and just how "domestic" she really was....
CRAWFORD CO.---Sex offender tops county violence report: The Crawford County crim report, crimes against person.
EDGAR CO.---Edgar County operating ETSB without license: There is a terrible trend these days toward finding someone, ANYONE, else to blame for your own actions. Nannette Crippes, who's been with the Emergency Telephone System Board since almost its inception if not exactly since its inception (because she's a taxpayer-funded moneysucker if ever there was one) is clearly one of those trendy people.
CENTRAL
CLAY CO.---Another child sex offense charged in Clay: In the wake of the big Mychal Bush-King bust, another sex crime came up in Clay and was almost completely overlooked (which Clay media has a tendency to do anyway). This unassuming-looking kid is in serious trouble; read the details here.
LAWRENCE CO.---Man arrested on sex offense against son in Lawrence Co.: Already being regaled with the "Eeyut deedunt hayppun thayut waayyyyyy" crowd with their shrieking over it, this one is guaranteed to be redelivered in full, salacious detail in the March 25 issue ...probably more detail than the shriekers are going to be able to accept.
CLAY CO.---Speeding meth suspects face delivery charge: Folks from Indiana came all the way to Clay County, Illinois, in order to be forced to pony up fines and fees associated with meth crimes. How kind of them.
WHITE CO.---Carbondale woman charged with boosting mixers: You wouldn't think that mixers (as in food mixers, not expensive mixing boards for sound and etc) would be a desirable thing to allegedly steal....but this crossover alleged crim from Carbondale did.
LAWRENCE CO.---Dope punk returns to stomping ground charged: What's up with all these "mules" and pill shoppers getting re-busted in Lawrence? We don't have the answer to that, but maybe within the ongoing coverage, we might be able to find out.
HAMILTON CO.---Wrong way driving and open container included in DUI arrests: The Hamilton County crim roundup, crimes against...well...humanity, basically. Because what if that wrong-way driver were in the same lane as YOUR kid or grandkid?? People need to be more responsible, for sure.
WABASH CO.---Doper gets six years for meth delivery: Wabash County crim report as it relates to drugs.
RICHLAND CO.---Olney man charged with child pornography: When not obsessing over the meth trade in Richland County, authorities are on the case with the alleged child porn pervs...and this is just such a case.
CLAY CO.---Convicted Salem felon eyed in guitar heist: Another crossover! Wouldn't you know it! This one from Marion County, but he didn't really have to travel far to get into trouble in Clay.
WHITE CO.---Traffic stops lead to drug charges, fill White docket: Yes indeed the White County court report is a BUSY one this month, and this one pertains to the drug crimes.
CLAY CO.---Flora sex predator didn't register for more than a year?: That's the question many in the impacted Flora neighborhood are asking themselves over this guy.
RICHLAND CO.---Locals and feds rounding up drug crims while prosecutor impotent: Now, don't get all excited (right...pun...)...we're talking about David Hyde's "potence" as it has to do with effectively addressing the intense level of crime that's come up recently in our home county.
EDWARDS CO.---Albion man busted in Grayville following traffic stop: For the low number of criminal elements arising lately out of Edwards, we have to wonder if the crims have just been avoiding the place due to prosecutor Mike Valentine and his reputation preceding him. It's a real possibility.
HAMILTON CO.---McLeansboro felon now charged with sex crime: Similarly, in HamCo, prosecutor Justin Hood has gained a reputation as a tough prosecutor...as this young guy, busted over a sex crime, is finding out.
RICHLAND CO.---Selective prosecution of endangered children: When it comes to children being endangered in Richland County, you'll be alright as long as you've never said anything in public against David Hyde. If he doesn't like you...well, screw you children if they're in a situation of danger. We've been saying it for a long time. Something's about to happen, however, that's going to prove it. Mark our words on that.
LAWRENCE CO.---Lawrence weed report offers decent crop of crims: Somebody needs to tell these guys: They need to apply for a license and get state approval. Of course, if they're already felons, that's not going to help the sitch at all.
WHITE CO.---Eldorado man arrested at Indian Creek RV over stolen guns: Another crossover crim...but this isn't THE Jeremy Potts of Raymond Martin fame. Just sayin.
HAMILTON CO.---Violation of no-contact order arrests jump in Ham: Again with Justin Hood...when are people going to realize? Violating an OP/No-Contact Order is against THE LAW. And yet they keep doing it...so prosecutor Justin Hood is there to help them out in their apparent non-understanding of the English language.
OP-ED
