RICHLAND CO., Ill.—A single-vehicle car crash Saturday night has left two Anna, Illinois, girls in out-of-state hospitals with serious injuries.
Illinois State Police District 12 out of Effingham report that the car crash involving a 2007 Toyota Camry occurred Saturday night (January 10, 2015) at 9:15 p.m. in a location outside of Parkersburg, Illinois.
The car, being driven by Kasandra Orilla Bunch, 18, of Anna, was westbound on Parkersburg Lane a half-mile east of the village of Parkersburg in south Richland County, when she lost control of the vehicle, went off the road to the right, and hit a phone pole. ISP say that at that point the vehicle overturned, but landed upright in a ditch.
Bunch was airlifted from the scene with very serious injuries, according to ISP, and taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
Her passenger, MaKayla DeWitt, 17 and also of Anna, was transported by ambulance to Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, then was taken to Cardinal-Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis; she is also suffering very serious injuries.
In the subsequent investigation, citations have been issued to Bunch for Illegal Consumption/Possession of Alcohol by a Minor, Improper Lane Usage, and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
