MARION CO., Ill. - A 40-year-old man from Kell lost his life in a head-on collision yesterday at the Kell Road intersection of Illinois 37.
Illinois State Police said the accident occurred Friday, March 2, at 5:54 p.m.
ISP said that a 1999 gray Ford F-150 being driven by William Jones, 45, of Kell, was southbound on Route 37 approaching Kell Road in Marion County. Norman Boxx, 40, also of Kell, operating a 2014 Husqvarna dirt bike, was northbound on Kell Road.
ISP indicated that Jones began conducting a left-hand turn early and entered into the northbound lane.
The two collided head-on in the northbound lane.
Both the truck and the dirt bike came to a rest in the northbound lane.
Boxx was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, where he was later declared deceased.
A traffic crash reconstruction is being completed, and the investigation is ongoing. However, Jones has been cited for Improper Turn.
