CARMI, Ill. – Carmi police had an active day Tuesday, February 13, starting at about 1:30 p.m. and continuing on through the evening hours.
The first arrest was reported to have occurred at that time when police were able to bring in a Crossville man wanted on warrants in White.
Josiah Seth Stover, 36, of Crossville, was the gent in question; he was taken into custody at 403 E. Cherry Street on two warrants, one for Failure to Register (as a Sex Offender, presumably, as he is one, dating back to 2004) and one for Aggravated Domestic Battery.
Stover remained at the White County Jail as of this afternoon.
At 3:50 p.m., two officers made contact with Crystal M. Shelton, 27, at her residence on the 600 block of Schumaker in Carmi, and took her into custody on a Failure to Appear warrant for Operating uninsured from last year.
She was held at the county jail on a $300 cash bond (or 10 days if she applies bond reform, then she can walk out without having to pay anything).
At 4:07 p.m., one Matthew Lemond, 21, of Burrell Street in Carmi, came to the city PD to turn himself in on a felony warrant for Failure to Appear on a charge of Possession of Debit Card of Another/Theft.
He was jailed on a $500 cash bond.
At 4:33, officers located one Brenda M. Jolley at her apartment on Renshaw. She was taken into custody on a White County warrant for FTA-Operating Uninsured.
She too was held pending posting of a $200 cash bond.
And then the last arrest occurred just before 6 p.m., when an officer on patrol stopped a white 1999 Buick being driven by Rhonda Tate of Carmi, at the intersection of Gilpin and 12th Street.
The officer was aware that Tate had an expired Illinois driver’s license…and it had been expired from more than a year.
She was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the county jail, where she was cited for No Valid License and Operating Uninsured, and held on a $150 cash bond, with S&E Auto assisting with towing the vehicle.
