CARMI, Ill. - Apparently, a couple of people yesterday in Carmi wanted to extend their weekend festivities right into Monday...but Carmi authorities were ahead of their alleged get lit game.
A traffic stop at about 6 p.m. yesterday (Monday, December 11) on a 2002 Ford Escape provided no escape for Nicholas Jennings, 32, at Plum and Kerney streets in town...and it appears he wasn't far from home, as Jennings lists an address on the 700 block of West Kerney.
He probably should have stayed home, as, once the officer had Jennings pulled over for a traffic light violation, the officer smelled alcohol emanating from the vehicle.
After required testing, the officer reported, Jennings was placed under arrest for DUI, and the vehicle was towed from the scene by Cherry Street Towing. Jennings was ticketed for DUI (two counts), Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and a traffic signal violation. He was able to post $100 cash bond and was released.
Then at 8:05 p.m., on Main Street at Jessup, an officer pulled over one James P. Bowman, 41, reporting an address of Brunswick, Ohio (although a more current address of Ear-Gauge Boy shows an address in Crossville).
Upon the traffic stop, the same pretty much occurred with Bowman as it did with Jennings, and it was off to the local hoosegow on arresting charges of two counts DUI and the ubiquitous No Valid Driver's License, which might explain the confusion over where dude actually resides.
Further information wasn't available on Bowman, except that he was able to post bond to secure his release.
