MARION CO., Ill. - A crash south of Farina this morning lead to a second crash as a woman, looking at the cleanup from the first wreck, drove into a responding vehicle.

Illinois State Police in District 12 said the whole thing emerged this morning on Interstate 57 in Marion County, three miles south of Farina at milepost 132 at about 6 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 4).

Preliminary investigative details indicate that a blue 2016 Lincoln Continental being driven by Cynthia Dippold, 57, of Farina, was traveling south on I-57 near the 132 mp. in the left lane. ISP said Dippold looked away from the roadway momentarily watching the crash cleanup in the northbound lanes. She was unaware of the emergency vehicle (tow recovery truck) with lights parked on the left shoulder of the southbound lanes.

Dippold then veered left off the road and struck the parked vehicle, then skidded over the southbound lanes into the right ditch.

Dippold was transported to Salem Community Hospital, and later cited for Failure to Yield to a Stationary Authorized Emergency Vehicle/Scott's Law.
