UPDATE - ALL LANES ARE OPEN...
MORE INFORMATION TO COME....
JEFFERSON CO., Ill - Illinois State Police have advised that all lanes of Interstate 57 southbound are closed at the I-64 eastbound interchange.
ISP in District 13 said that an accident involving three semis has closed the interstate at that location. There are injuries in the 8:57 a.m. crash, but we have no word on the drivers or their conditions.
I-57 southbound exit 83 is also closed at this time, and all traffic is being rerouted on I-64 east to Route 37 south.
Traffic may return to I-57 south via Illinois 154 (exit 75) or Illinois 14 (exit 71).
I-57 is expected to be closed for approximately 4 hours for crash investigation and cleanup. Please seek alternate routes.
