CARMI, Ill. - A 19-year-old Carmi girl was arrested early this morning after alleged illegal consumption lead to a fight on the lawn with her girlfriend.
Carmi authorities said they were called to a residence in the area of Fourth Street and Fackney in reference to a fight in progress this morning (Wednesday, July 19) at approximately 12:09 a.m.
When the responding officers arrived on scene they found several residents outside their homes in the 300 block of Fackeny, who pointed the responding officer toward two individuals sitting in the grass in the yard near 606 Fourth Street.
The officer made contact with the two, who were identified as Elizabeth M. Bailey, 23, and Neola D. Wilson, 19, who related that they had been arguing in the yard and that they were in a relationship.
Wilson said she was wanting to leave the house at 606 Fourth Street where the two lived and that she just wanted to get some air. The responding officer asked Wilson if she fought physically with Bailey or if it was only a verbal fight and Wilson said the fight was verbal only.
The officer could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Wilson's breath and Wilson advised that she was only 19, and admitted that she had been drinking alcoholic beverages. She was administered a portable breath test and blew a .173, so she was placed under arrest for Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.
Wilson was also searched by the officer as she was being placed under arrest, and requested that all her property be given to her girlfriend Bailey. She was transported from the scene to the county jail where she remained as of this afternoon, having been able to post bond. She's next in court on August 17.
