CLAY CO., Ill. - Sheriff Andy Myers' report this week shows that once again, his county seems to be the landing spot for people from out of the area to have their warrants served - or in the case of one out-of-area couple from Indiana, to get arrested after a crash - in Clay.
It kicks off with what happened last Saturday, June 24, when Stacy Hayes, 48, Cambria, Illinois, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Speeding. Bond set at $1,500.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She posted bond and was released.
Then on Monday, June 26, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Marcella Pittman, 45, Clay City, for Disorderly Conduct. Bond set at $1,200.00 (10 percent). She posted bond and was released.
Wednesday, June 28, the Clay County Sheriff's Office received a report of a motor vehicle accident at 10:00 a.m. east of the intersection of U.S. Hwy 50 and Juniper Drive. Apparently Bryan A. Maxwell, 24, Evansville, Indiana, operating a 2006 Toyota was traveling west on U.S. Hwy 50 and a deer entered the roadway. Maxwell was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Maxwell was arrested for Driving While Driver's License Suspended. Bond set at $1,500.00 (10 percent). He posted bond and was released. The passenger, Sarah Elverd, 27, Staunton, Indiana, was arrested on an outstanding Vanderburgh County, Indiana, warrant for Petition to Revoke Probation on the original charges of Possession of Syringe and Possession of Paraphernalia. Elverd was transported to Vanderburgh County. No injuries reported.
Thursday, June 29, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Tristen E. Wilson, 19, Flora, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of No Valid Driver's License. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.
