WHITE CO., Ill. - The guy who seemed really happy to be eating jail food again here recently was sentenced to a prison term today in White County Circuit Court.
White County State's Attorney Denton Aud said Jesse G. Stephens, 34, of Carmi, was sentenced today in a plea agreement to three years in Illinois Department of Corrections, this for two Class 4 felonies he caught earlier this month: Obstructing Justice, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Stephens' three-year sentence is to be followed by a year of mandatory supervised release (MSR, or, parole).
The June 7 felonies came at a bad time, as he'd already scored another felony charge earlier in the year, and he was still going through proceedings in 2016 cases when he caught the June case.
Stephens still owes an enormous amount of fines and fees, and adds another $447 to his more than $3400 already on the books.
