WHITE CO., Ill. - White County State's Attorney Denton Aud has announced the sentencing of two individuals to IDOC this morning.

Michelle Q. Neaveill

The first is Michelle Q. Neaveill, 25, Carmi, who was sentenced on a 2016 charge of Retail Theft, a Class 4 felony. Neaveill got 5 years in IDOC, to be followed by 1 year MSR (mandatory supervised release, aka parole). Neaveill was also ordered to pay all mandatory fines, fees, costs, and assessments, as well as restitution to her victims, totaling $1,096, none of which has been paid.

Two other theft charges (one from this year) were dismissed as part of her pleading in this case and agreeing to pay restitution to her victims.

James Christian Stevens

The next was James Christian Stevens, 20, Carmi, who was charged with Class 4 felony Domestic Battery, another Class 4 felony, and Class 3 felony Possession of Methamphetamine.

Stevens got 3 years DOC, to be followed by 4 years MSR on the first count, and 3 years DOC, 1 year MSR on the second. Stevens' sentences will run concurrently.

Stevens was also recommended to serve his time in the Impact Incarceration Program (“Boot Camp”). Stevens had previously been placed on probation in the domestic battery case in February. After being arrested in April for criminal trespass and possession of controlled substance, which later tested positive as methamphetamine by the Illinois State Police crime lab, Stevens entered into the agreement today to have his probation revoked with the sentences above entered.

Carmi Police Department was the investigating agency of both Stevens and Neaveill. Both of them were represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge.
