LAWRENCE CO.— A St. Francisville man has been charged with a trio of felonies after police say he injured his wife with a rifle in a brief standoff situation.

Danny Lynn Sandlin, 48, of 11743 Sand Barrens Ln., St. Francisville, has been charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Vehicle when on May 16, at his residence, he fired a rifle at a tractor that he knew or reasonably should have known to be occupied.

Court documents don’t indicate who was occupying the tractor.

Sandlin is also charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery after authorities say he knowingly caused bodily harm to his wife, identified as Darlene F. Sandlin, when he struck her, knowingly causing great bodily harm, when he struck her on the arm with the butt of a rifle and in so doing fractured her wrist.

The third and final charge of Unlawful Possession of Weapons by a Felon alleges that Sandlin knowingly had on his person and under his control an SKS semi-automatic rifle.

The situation was being called a standoff for a brief time, but apparently lawmen were able to talk Sandlin down and take him in for charges.

Authorities were extremely tight-lipped about the situation, despite the fact that information was going out over the scanner and Disclosure had reached out to authorities for more information (including the identity of the person involved in the “standoff”), saying only that they’d do a press release “later,” which never came.

Sandlin’s criminal history includes a conviction for Driving Revoked August 20, 1999 for which he was sentenced to three months in jail, probation for 24 months and ordered to pay $1,112.50 in fines and fees.

Sandlin was sentenced December 5, 2006 to conditional discharge for 12 months after he was found guilty of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid Firearm Owner Identification Card.

He was also ordered to fork over $270 in fines and fees.

Cash bond in the case was set at $10,000.
