CARMI, Ill. - Carmi City Police had a busy last several days according to the police report that outlines several random items being reported stolen, a burglary arrest, and several juveniles being arrested, all in separate incidents.

The burglary arrest was made on a warrant as executed at 8:53 Friday morning, June 9. Police say they arrested Michael B. Burch, 25, of Sixth Street in Carmi, at a location at the 700 block of Perry Street on a warrant for Residential Burglary. Authorities say Burch was located hiding in a closet and surrendered without incident after he was detected. The house was listed as the residence of Connie Sue Lambdin, 64, who may or may not have been aware that that's where Burch had secreted himself.

Then at 5 p.m. on Friday, Daniel E. Burney, 24, of Carmi, came to the Police Department and reported his wallet possibly being stolen from a location on First Street.

On Saturday, June 10, at about 11 p.m., Herbert G. Bell, 59, of Olive Street in Carmi, reported a theft of pills from his home. There was no indication of what kind of pills or how many.

At about 8:43 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, Mary Johnson, 42, of Crossville, came to the PD to report her cell phone stolen. She said she was working at Walmart between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. that day, went to the family restroom in the back part of the store at approximately 3 p.m., and left her Galaxy Samsung Sky cell phone there. She became aware at about 5 p.m. that the phone had been left in the restroom, but it wasn't there when she checked back, so she reported it stolen.

The next report of theft was that of a wallet belonging to Sarah Wilkinson, 28 of Carmi, who came to the Carmi PD lobby yesterday (Sunday, June 11) at 10:40 a.m. to report she was missing her wallet. No other details were made available.

And then three very young kids were arrested on Fifth Street at Sycamore Sunday very early in the morning (5:17 a.m.) on preliminary charges of Curfew Violation, Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Criminal Damage to Property. There were no details made available on the juveniles (under Illinois' law regarding the Juvenile Justice Act) except their ages, which were 9, 11, and 12; their genders, all male; and the race of two of them, with the 12-year-old being white and the 9-year-old being black (there's no indication on the 11-year-old). As well, the victim is listed as a senior citizen.
