OLNEY, Ill. - While officials have stated that so far, there is no indication of criminal activity in the May 21 death of Olney resident Tim Eads, friends and family aren't convinced...and now, they're offering a reward for information that leads to a criminal conviction.
Friends and family of Eads, the co-guardian (with his girlfriend Margie Vaughn) of the late Sabrina Stauffenberg, have announced that they are offering a $500 cash reward to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction in what they are calling the "suspicious" death of Eads.
The reward will be paid out upon finalization of any court proceedings.
Officially, Eads died after a car-v-pedestrian collision on the evening of Sunday, May 21, after he was crossing Illinois Route 130 in the vicinity of Cherry Street in Olney, coming home from work. The vehicle that struck him was being driven by Annette King, whom Illinois State Police have by and large cleared of any criminal activity in the case, calling it an "accident."
However, friends and family, knowing what was going on in the days and weeks prior to the accident, aren't convinced, and are seeking eyewitnesses and/or associates of King's in the wake of Eads' gruesome death.
Similar situations have arisen in the past in southern Illinois, wherein friends and family don't buy the "official" story of how a loved one met his or her death, and the families have pushed for more official involvement; these would include the families of Molly Young and Pravin Varughese, both of whom died in Carbondale, and both of whose deaths have been the subject of much prevarication by Jackson County and Carbondale public officials.
Disclosure spoke with Richland County State's Attorney Brad Vaughn at the Glenn Ramey hearing Thursday about Eads' death, and Vaughn stated that all he's aware of in the matter is the little bit of info that ISP had already provided, which basically was the same material as outlined in their official press release that came in the next day (with the exception of the fact that while Eads' driver's license may have stated he was from Newton, he most recently had been living in Olney.)
King, it might be noted, is not the DAUGHTER of Irene Stauffenberg, nor is she a STEP daughter; apparently she just tells people that, a point which the challenged among the group felt compelled to rag us about. Fact is, people who went to school with her and know her have stated one after the other that she herself repeatedly identified herself as Irene Stauffenberg's daughter. However, given many of the discrepancies associated with this situation that have emerged on King's Facebook page, none of it is really surprising, and is in fact somewhat expected.
