CARMI, Ill. - Illinois State Police (ISP) District 19 Commander Cory Ristvedt has announced the results of various patrols held in the area during the month of May.
The first is White County, where a Special Traffic Enforcement Patrol (sTEP) was conducted. This sTEP allowed ISP to provide increased enforcement for impaired driving, occupant restraint, speeding and distracted driving violations during the National "Click It or Ticket" Campaign.
Then there was a Nighttime Enforcement (NITE) patrol held in Saline and Gallatin counties, as this one allowed the ISP to focus on preventing, detecting and taking enforcement action in response to impaired driving and occupant restraint violations, especially between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
In Wayne County, there was a sTEP held in May; here are the results:
And in White and Hamilton counties there was an Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrol (OREP) held this month, which OREP ISP says provides extra patrol coverage for the ISP so officers could focus on saving lives by making sure all vehicle occupants were buckled up.
