RICHLAND CO.— This issue’s general criminal report includes a couple of individuals who smacked the vehicles of others and two cases in which weapons violations are charged.
Homeless toting illegal gun
Police say a homeless man was taken into custody and found to have on his person a handgun with the serial numbers grinded off.
Official reports indicate that on April 29, at 3691 North Van Rd., Olney, Jacob J. Angle, 29, purportedly homeless, has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Defaced Firearm when he was found with a .22 caliber pistol on his person.
Angle was also charged with a single count of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, identified as a one hitter pipe used for smoking cannabis and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Without Requisite FOID Card.
He was also charged with two counts of Theft, the first for allegedly stealing a camouflaged shoulder holster belonging to Cary Kosack and a second count alleging the theft of a gold ring, Bulova watch, Coleman generator and silver coins belonging to Joyce Smith, at 5583 Fairway Rd.
Angle’s only other run in with the law in Richland County is a March 10, 2009 conviction for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol for which he was sentenced to court supervision for 18 months, to attend DUI school and to pay $1,839 in fines and fees.
No bond information was available in the case.
Felon with muzzleloader
John E. Luther, 44, of 3441 North Oak Tree Rd., Olney, formerly of Cisne, has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon By a Felon after authorities say on March 20 he was found to have in his possession a muzzleloader type firearm.
Luther was convicted of Battery Causing Bodily Harm June 7, 2004 for which he was sentenced to court supervision for six months and ordered to pay $239 in fines and fees.
He also has a criminal record in Wayne County including a March 5, 2009 conviction for Theft $300-$10,000 for which he was ultimately sentenced, after violating the terms of previous sentencing, probation for 30 months, 182 days of periodic imprisonment and was ordered to pay $13,131 in fines and fees.
No bond information was available in the case.

Casey J. Grizzard, 22, of 725 South Fair St., Olney, has been charged with Criminal Damage to Property after police say on February 28, 2017, while at his residence, he
knowingly damaged property belonging to Anastasia Leaf when he hit the rear driver side of her silver GMC Terrain.
Grizzard’s criminal history includes a conviction
October 17, 2013 of Burglary and sentenced to conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay $1,307 in fines and fees.
No bond information was available in the case.
Hits car with lawnmower
Jake T. Kuykendall, 31, of 3998 North Heritage Rd., Olney, has been charged three criminal offenses.
Court documents allege that on April Kuykendall committed the offense of Criminal Damage to Property and Criminal Damage to a Motor Vehicle when he knowingly damaged property belonging to Lynda L. Brancecum when, while at 129 East Scott St., Olney, he hit the front of her blue 2016 Chrysler with his mower, causing in excess of $500 of damage.
And if that weren’t enough, Kuykendall added to his plight when, according to authorities, he proceeded to steal the front license plate off of Brancecum’s car.
Cash bond in the case was set at $1,000.
Hitting wife leads to drug charge
A St. Elmo man has been charged with a drug felony after police were called to a domestic situation.
According to court documents, on or about May 1, Kenneth D. Griesemer, 57, of 314 North Elm St., St. Elmo, while at Rte. 130 in Parkersburg, committed the offense of Domestic Battery when he struck his wife Teria K. Griesemer in the face.
Subsequent to his arrest police say he was found to have on his person less than five grams of meth and if that weren’t enough trouble for the night, police say Griesemer gave deputy Drew Bunting a
hard time when he disobeyed multiple commands to stop walking away and place his hands behind his back.
In addition to the battery charge, Griesemer was charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Resisting a Peace Officer.
Cash bond in the case was set at $2,000 with special conditions including he have no contact with his wife until further notice of the court.
