OLNEY, Ill. - A wheelchair-bound Olney man is deceased after a semi-v.-pedestrians accident last night in town not far from Burger King on 130.

Illinois State Police said the incident occurred last night (Thursday, April 13) at 8:40 p.m., when a green 2017 Freightliner being driven by James D. Butler, 55, of Olney was northbound on West Street (Illinois Route 130) just north of North Avenue.

Shawn P. Tate, 53, of Olney, was being pushed in a wheelchair by Ian M. Tate, 17, also of Olney, in the northbound left lane.

Butler was unable to see both of the Tates due to the darkness and that the Tates were wearing dark clothing. His semi then struck both the Tates.

Shawn P. Tate was transported to Richland Memorial Hospital; Ian Tate was transported to Deaconess in Evansville. There was no word on his condition this morning.

No citations have been issued in the accident.
