WHITE CO., Ill. - Two people were taken into custody and numerous items of evidence rounded up Friday, February 3, when a Drug Task Force effort was carried out between Crossville and Centerville.
White County Sheriff Doug Maier said that the detail that went down Friday night was conducted targeting the drug problem in White County.
At approximately 7 p.m., Maier, Sgt. Byrd Huber, Sgt. Craig Poole, Deputy Scott Cantrell, Deputy Randy Graves and Deputy Justin Spencer arrived at 406 West Main in Crossville, the residence of Joseph Levi Jordan, 28, with the purpose of the law enforcement presence to be looking for a person wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Levi Jordan opened the front door to the residence and allowed deputies inside the residence.
Jordan, Maier said, has a large pit bull which he agreed to place in a bedroom area and he allowed officers to search the residence for the wanted person. After a search of the residence, Jordan was requested to move the dog to another area, which he did. In the search of this area, an amount of cannabis was located. Jordan then sigend a consent to search the residence.
The following items were recovered:
One plastic bag with white powder which tested positive for meth;
One plastic bag with green leafy substance which tested positive for cannabis;
Two sets of digital scales;
Numerous smoking pipes with residue;
Eight firearms including two which had been modified to an illegal length (18-inch) barrel;
$373 in cash.
Jordan was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Use of Weapon. He's being held in the White County Jail with no bond at this time.

Then at approximately 9 p.m., the above members of the sheriff's department arrived at the location of 2272 Co. Rd. 1125E which is in the area of Centerville. Royce S. Ritcheson, 20, resides at this residence. The purpose of the presence of law enforcement was information of illegal drug activity. Upon arrival, a small trailer located on the property had lights on but chain and padlock on the outside of the door; there was no response from the trailer. A strong odor of cannabis could be detected from outside the trailer. A smoking pipe consistent with illegal drug usage was observed on a table inside the residence. White County Sheriff Doug Maier spoke with Ritcheson on the phone. He refused to come to the residence at this time.
White County State's Attorney denton Aud was notified and a search warrant for the residence was obtained. Judge T. Scott Webb signed the search warrant. The following items were recovered:
Numerous bags of green leafy substance (200g) which tested positive for cannabis:
One live growing marijuana plant;
Numerous items of drug paraphernalia;
One "tip jar" and an amount of loose change;
Digital scales.
All reports have been forwarded to White County State's Attorney Denton Aud for additional charges. The sheriff's office is determined to continue to make a difference int he drug problem in White County. Further details are scheduled.
