MT. CARMEL POLICE REPORT, APRIL 17-18!

MT. CARMEL, Ill. - City police in Mt. Carmel responded to a variety of matters over the past couple of days, but nothing they hadn’t already handled in the past, and so we’re off and running for the coverage of police activity for April 17 and 18, 2016!

In between a rock and a …knife?

The reports begin April 17, when Mt. Carmel Police arrested Mark A. Hall, 56, of Mt. Carmel, after he was accused of threatening a person with bodily harm. Police were called to 1230 N. Walnut Street reference a male subject with a knife. During the investigation it was determined that Hall threatened an individual with a large rock. How anyone got a knife and a rock confused is rather sketchy, but there it is. Hall was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with aggravated assault.

On that same day, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Vaughan Sloan, 16, of Browns after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Sloan was driving on a revoked driver's license and had open alcohol in the vehicle. Sloan was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with driving while revoked and illegal transportation of alcohol by a minor.

Trying to understand the family dynamic

On the 18th, Mt. Carmel Police arrested three individuals after police were called to the 200 block of East 6th Street reference a domestic battery. Police arrested William W. Wolf, 58, of Mt. Carmel after he was accused of striking a family member in the face with his fist. Police then arrested Ryan C. King, 20, of Mt. Carmel after he was accused of striking a family member. King was also found to have a failure to appear warrant out of Wabash County. A third person at the residence was identified as Jennifer R. Jones, 23, of Lawrenceville. During the investigation it was determined that Jones was wanted on a warrant out of Lawrence County. Jones was also found to be in possession of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia. All three subjects were transported to the Wabash County Jail. Wolf was charged with domestic battery, King was charged with domestic battery and served the Wabash County warrant, Jones was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic needle. Jones was also served the Lawrence County warrant. All three subjects were held pending the setting and posting of bond.

Also on the 18th, police arrested Ernst J. Fisher, 25, of Sumner after police were investigating a complaint in the 300 block of Walnut Street. During the investigation it was discovered that Fisher was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Fisher is accused of tossing a smoking device down on the ground before MCPD Officer's arrived on scene. The smoking device was located by officers and Fisher was subsequently arrested. Fisher was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Then Bree Galiher, 20, of Mt. Carmel, was arrested after police were called to a residence in the 400 block of E. 7th Street. Galiher is accused of striking a 26-year-old male subject in the face; she also stands accused of striking a 2-year-old child in the face with a shoe. Galiher was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with aggravated domestic battery and domestic battery. Galiher is being held pending the setting and posting of bond.

And finally, Mt. Carmel police arrested 28 year old Joshua L. McDowell of Sumner after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop it was discovered that McDowell was driving on a suspended driver's license. McDowell was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving on a suspended driver's license. McDowell was held pending the posting of bond.
