LAWRENCE CO., Ill. - A situation regarding a man wanted on a Knox County warrant has had the attention of authorities in Lawrence since just before noon today (Saturday, February 13, 2016).
While the name of the suspect hasn't been released, we understand from our sources in Lawrence that at about noon today, he was spotted driving in the Knob Hill area of Lawrence County on U.S. 50 on the way to Vincennes and was stopped.
When it was discovered that he was wanted on the Knox County warrant, the man reportedly fled his vehicle into a nearby wooded area, while the officer that stopped him gave chase on foot.
By the time backup was called for, nearly all law enforcement in Lawrence, if not all of them, had converged on the area, and all Knox County authorities were alerted with half of them stationed along the border waiting for the guy to come across.
Three hours later, however, it's suspected that the guy is holed up somewhere, maybe kicked back and drinking a beer, waiting out the cops.
It's being reported that Illinois State Police were called, but declined to come assist, for reasons unknown.
When we learn more, we'll post it.
