EDWARDS CO., Ill. - A man charged with residential burglary in Edwards County has been sentenced today.

Gary Powell, 49, of Grayville, was charged back in early July with the felony count. He was never able to post bond, and within a matter of weeks, entered a plea of guilty on August 21. Powell was set for sentencing today, October 2.

With his criminal history being what it is (with serious crimes like drug possession and not reporting for sentences, as well as the minor felonies like bad checks and obstructing justice, all of it dating back to 2005 in Edwards), Powell had to face the music and was sentenced to a term of 8 years in DOC, to be followed by 2 years of parole.

He's also to pay $362.00 in fines and fees, none of which have been paid.
