EFFINGHAM, Ill. - Illinois State Police District 12 out of Effingham has announced their special patrols for the month of October, including the counties where they'll be occurring.
Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP) will be conducted in Clark and Cumberland counties. OREP allows the ISP to target an area with saturation patrols that focus on traffic violations and related compliance with safety belt and child safety seat laws. Safety belt enforcement zones will also be set up to ensure the driver and passengers are buckled up. Illinois law requires all vehicle passengers (front and back) to be buckled up!
Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) patrols will be conducted in Cumberland County. The ACE patrols allow the ISP to target an area with saturation patrols that focus on preventing, detecting, and taking enforcement action inresponse to violations associated with impaired driving and illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
Nighttime Enforcement Patrols (NITE) will be conducted in Richland and Lawrence counties during October. Officers working NITE patrols will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and are not properly buckled up.
And Roadside Safety Checks (RSC) will be held in Effingham and Marion counties during October. Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe mmanner, driving with a suspended orrevoked driver’s license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
