OLNEY, Ill.--The Richland County Coroner's office has released the name and circumstances of the individual who was the subject of an emergency call to the Wash n Go Car Wash on East Main last night in Olney.
The gentleman was Bobby Stipp, 81, who had worked at the car wash for the past several years greeting customers, giving change and generally being a happy face at the popular car wash location, situated almost adjacent to Hovey's.
The coroner's office said that another individual who knew Stipp but hadn't seen him yesterday (August 18) observed his truck there at the car wash, so he knew Stipp was on the property
When this individual got the door to the office of the car wash open, he discovered Stipp on the floor unresponsive, and called 911. Responders attempted to resuscitate Stipp, to no avail. He was transported to Richland Memorial, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The death was due to cardiac arrest; authorities say that in their investigation, they learned that Stipp had been complaining of chest pains all day.
Local papers will carry obituary information.
