RICHLAND CO., Ill.--Richland County Sheriff Andy Hires said there were no serious injuries in what initially appeared to be a horrible traffic accident last night on U.S. 50.
Hires said the deputies' reports weren't in yet, so we don't have any names of those involved, nor any details of the wreck except for this: It occurred at around 9:10 p.m. on U.S. 50 at Prairieton Road. At that time, a call was actually routed to Lawrence County 911, who called Richland County. Richland deputies responded; Claremont-Bonpas Fire Protection District as well as the local ambulance service was dispatched.
The collision was between a semi and truck, with the trailer being damaged, but not the tractor. And while it looked terrible, all involved literally walked away from it.
The road was closed for quite some time, with a call going out for wreckers a little later, and Illinois State Police at about midnight.
Claremont-Bonpas Fire Protection District has more photos on their page; Check them out by clicking this link here. Below is a photo of the truck involved.
