CLAY CO.— A single car accident in Clay County early this morning (Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015) has left the driver with unknown injuries and criminal charges.
According to the Illinois State Police, at 12:57 a.m. Matthew Ryan Brown, 31, was driving a 1995 black Buick LeSaber southbound on Blue Mound Road approximately 200 feet north of Coon Creek Bridge at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and skidded approximately 175 feel to the left.
The vehicle is said to have left the roadway to the left, traveled down an embankment and struck a tree.
The extent of Brown’s injuries have yet to be released by authorities.
Pending charges include Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Failure to Wear Seat Belt, No Valid Driver’s License and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
