HAMILTON CO., Ill.--A young man sitting in Illinois' Department of Corrections has entered a plea to a felony in Hamilton County Circuit Court as of today.

Michael Rowland, 28, plead to Class 4 felony, Criminal Damage to Property, according to Hamilton County prosecutor Justin Hood.

Rowland received in exchange for his plea a sentence of one year in DOC and will serve a year of mandatory supervised release.

Hood said Rowland's conviction stems from an incident wherein he damaged a rental property while living in Hamilton County. The total amount of damage was $1,445. Rowland tore up carpet and destroyed four interior doors and the garage door to a rental property in McLeansboro.

Rowland is currently located at Western Illinois Correctional Center on sentences from other counties (Ogle, Dekalb and Lake); he was apparently institutionalized at Big Muddy just to the north of Hamilton County, and when he was released from the sentences that put him there, he likely slithered on down to Hamilton to do his damage to the rental, as a lot of punk convicts will do, and which has been the bane of having prisons in southern Illinois to house prisoners from upstate locales.
