LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill.—The man who has been known for years in Lawrenceville as “Mr. K” has been found deceased at his residence in that town.
Authorities have only confirmed that Joe Krych, who was the original owner of Mr. K’s Motel out on State Street on the way to U.S. 50, is deceased and the coroner, Shannon Steffey, was called to the scene a little earlier this afternoon. We’re working on details as regards who discovered him, his age, and the like. We’re being told that Krych’s residence was not far from the motel.
Lawrenceville residents know Krych as “Mr. K” after which the motel was named; Krych sold the place to Deputy Byron Middlecoat’s dad a few years back, and within the past couple of years, the place was sold again, this time to house the various migrant workers coming in to Lawrence County to work at JMR Farms.
We’ll have more as we can get it; please check back frequently.
