FLORA, Ill. - Things have been so nice and quiet in Flora over the past two weeks that the first week of May, there was no police activity report, and so Chief John Nicholson opted to fold in the couple of items that did happen that week with the things that happened this past week…and here it is.
Wednesday, May 2 at 7:56 am, Flora Police investigated an accident at the intersection of Second Street and North Main Street, involving a 2004 Chevy operated by Angie Gibbs, 34, of Flora, a 2003 Mercury operated by Heather Backstrom, 42, of Flora and a 2005 Ford operated Gabrielle Cole, 18 of Flora. Gibbs was cited for failure to yield at stop intersection and operating uninsured vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Saturday, May 5 at 5:41 pm, Flora Police arrested Steven Huffman, 26, of Flora on two outstanding Clay County Warrants for Violation of Sex Offender Registration and Felon in Possession of Weapon/Firearm. Huffman was transported to Flora Police Department for booking procedures and transferred to the custody of Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Monday, May 7 at 11:27 pm, Flora Police arrested Elizabeth Levitt, 37, on a Clay County warrant for Violation of Bond. Levitt was taken to Flora Police Department, she was unable to post bond and was transferred to Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Tuesday, May 8 at 8:28 am, Flora Police arrested Jacob McGuire, 24, of Flora on a Failure to Appear Warrant out of Fayette County, a Failure to Appear warrant out of Clay County and Resisting Arrest. McGuire underwent booking procedures at Flora Police Department and was transported to Clay County Jail.
Tuesday, May 8 at 8:39 pm, Levi Sehie, 42, and Brian Wagner, 35, both of Flora were issued Local Ordinance Citations for Disorderly Conduct, following an incident in the 300 block of North Main Street.
Wednesday, May 9 at 7:40 pm, Flora Police arrested Richard Bassett, 57, of Flora for Possession of Methamphetamine, following an incident in the 1000 block of Clan Street.
Basset was fingerprinted, photographed and released to the custody of Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Friday, May 11 at 2:22 am, Flora Police arrested Bryan Williams, 29, of Flora on a Clay County and a Wayne County Failure to Appear warrant. Williams was transported to Flora Police Department prior to being transferred to the custody of Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Saturday, May 12 2:36 pm, Flora Police arrested Megan Harvel, 24, of Flora for Battery, following an incident on May 4 in the 200 block of East North Avenue. Harvel underwent booking procedures at Flora Police Department and was released with a Notice to Appear.
Saturday, May 12 at 10:23 pm, Flora Police arrested Branden O’Connor, 35, of Flora for Driving While License Revoked, following a traffic stop in the 200 block of West 7th Street. O’Connor was transported to Flora Police Department for booking procedures and released with a Notice to Appear.
