CLAY CO.— A Marion County man with at least three trips to prison to his credit has been busted in Xenia.
Zachary N. Goff, 28, of Linder Pass, Iuka, has been charged with a single count of Burglary after authorities say on April 25 he, without authority, entered a small wooden portable building of ADM/ Greendale Elevator, with intent to commit theft.
Goff’s Marion County criminal history includes a conviction September 3, 2009, which ultimately resulted in a sentence to drug treatment, to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for three years and cost him $1,775 in fines and fees.
A July 1, 2013 conviction for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol earned Goff a sentence back to IDOC for four and a half years and cost him another $3,438.83 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $3,288.83.
He was convicted of a reduced charge of Battery, instead of the original Domestic Battery, on September 22, and sentenced to jail for 90 days and ordered to pay $282 in fines and fees, of which he has paid nothing.
He was arrested June 5, 2017 and charged with Theft.
In a plea deal, he pleaded guilty to a Retail Theft in return for the remainder of the charges being dismissed and a sentence back to IDOC for two years and $207 in fines and fees, of which he hasn’t bothered to pay the first dime.
Cash bond in the case was set $5,000.
Conditions of that bond include that he have no contact with ADM/ Greendale Elevator.
