CARMI, Ill. - It was a busy weekend for Carmi city police when it came to traffic incidents, and the first one occurred when a teen decided to act up on a school bus, and ended up being accused of damaging government-supported property.

Police reports provided don't indicate what time it occurred Friday, March 23, only the few details: That two Carmi-White County school bus drivers signed a complaint against a 15-year-old male for Criminal Damage to Government-Owned Property, this after the student forcefully kicked the bus doors open, then fled from the bus.

Traffic stops then occurred over the weekend, with the first being Saturday, March 24, at 3:45 p.m., when Carson Boren, 18, was the subject of a traffic stop on Ninth Street near Sycamore.

It was stopped on 9th near Sycamore, and as the officer approached the vehicle, he knew that the driver, Boren, had an active White County warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody without incident.

Then early Sunday morning (March 25, at 1:29 a.m.), a traffic stop lead to the arrest of a Carmi guy.

Larry R.S. Tyree, 29, was arrested for Driving while License Suspended after a traffic stop on Sixth Street north of Sycamore. He was jailed at the City/County Jail and later posted bond.

And then later Sunday, at 4:46 p.m., a Carmi officer observed a red 2015 Hyundai passenger car being driven by Amber N. Newman, 34, of Carmi, and, knowing she possessed a suspended Illinois driver's license, he conducted a traffic stop on Oak Street near Conger.

Newman was taken into custody without incident and was later released after posting a $150 cash bond.
