This photo, taken on March 7, 2018, is reported by a complaining parent to be of one of Edwards County’s bus drivers relieving himself on the school grounds and in public after an hour-plus bus route. Complaints have been issued to the school about this behavior, which complainants say has been ongoing for three years, with nothing resulting thus far.
EDWARDS CO. – What’s being called a three-year-ongoing issue with a bus driver at Edwards County Schools has finally gotten on the nerves of some parents and grandparents that they’ve turned to the public for help in trying to get the school district to deal with it.
The matter is absolutely baffling: Parents have been complaining for three years now about a rural route bus driver (who for purposes of this article shall remain unnamed) who, after an hours-long route, returns to the bus barn at the school in Edwards County and almost immediately urinates at the edge of the parking lot.
Instead of going inside the school, any of the buildings on the premises that contain a restroom, or even one of the restaurants just up the street, this driver positions himself between or in front of parked vehicles at the south side of the school, and takes a whiz, right out in public…where pretty much anyone, including schoolkids, can see him.
While parents haven’t yet (to Disclosure’s knowledge, at any rate) advised that their kids have seen this act, that day is probably approaching.
Complainants say maybe from a distance, what the driver is doing doesn’t register to kids still in the area, such as those on the football field to the west. In point of fact, a photo one of the complaining parents was able to snap on March 7 appears to be the man simply standing between vehicles in front of a k-block (barrier or parking block).
However, one of the complainants, a 72-year-old woman whose grandchildren attend school at Edwards, said she was actually coming around the corner of a bus parked on the lot and almost ran full-on into the driver while he was in the process of publicly urinating.
Her son, who has children in the Edwards County school system, has issued repeated complaints to the school administration, with no real response.
Disclosure, on March 15, made an inquiry to School Superintendent David Cowger, who, as of production of this article (March 19), had yet to respond.
The complaining parent even sent the photo that accompanies this article to the school’s assistant principal, asking for help, this on March 6, and received the response that he “doesn’t have any authority to suspend (the bus driver) pending any investigation.”
The parent also contacted a school board member, who advised that “this was the first he’d heard of it,” so it’s completely unclear as to whether there was actually an investigation ongoing, or if this was just a general statement.
One complainant indicated to Disclosure that he would be making a police report if school officials didn’t come through with a resolution.
The perplexing situation has prompted some complainants to consider homeschooling…which in this day and age of schools being the petri dish for all things violent and/or bizarre (see other articles in this issue), is probably the best idea overall.
