WABASH CO., Ill. - While some people get busted once for driving or drug infractions and shipped off to prison right away, a Bridgeport man isn't burdened with that problem, no matter what the county or infraction might be.
And many are wondering not if the more astute law enforcement officers involved in the latest catch-and-release game being run on Cameron Jones aren't now angling for a bigger fish.
That might be what could explain keeping Jones on the street instead of behind bars ...and in fact might be the ONLY explanation, given the general good job Wabash authorities do with their cases.
Sheriff Derek Morgan reports that yesterday (Sunday, March 11) at 9:09 a.m. when decent people are in church, Jones, 34, was the subject of a vehicle stop on Highway 1 and N 2250 Blvd. effected by Wabash Deputy Bogard for a traffic violation.
During Deputy Bogard's stop it was found that Jones still had a suspended license as well as an active warrant out of Wabash County.
Morgan reported that Jones refused to exit the vehicle and struggled with Deputy Bogard during the arrest.
Jones was taken into custody on the F.T.A. warrant (possession of meth) and driving suspended and was transported to the Wabash County Jail, where he was also charged with obstructing a peace officer. Jones remains jailed on a $1,150 cash bond, which is apparently too much for his St. Francisville contingent to come up with so far.

Also this weekend (Saturday, March 10) at 10:17 a.m., the Wabash County Sheriff's Office conducted a vehicle stop at 3rd and Poplar streets in Mt. Carmel reference an equipment violation.
During Deputy Bogard's stop, he found that the driver, Peyton N. Fearheiley, 22, of Mt. Carmel had a suspended driver's license and an active F.T.A. warrant out of Wabash County.
Fearheiley was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail on the warrant and charged with driving suspended. She remains in the Wabash County Jail awaiting the posting of $350 cash bond.
