Wrecks and warrant arrests highlight Clay County Sheriff’s report

CLAY CO., Ill. - Sheriff Andy Myers' report for the past week (covering February 21 through 27) is in, and it's a combination of a lot of warrant services, traffic incidents, and citations....including one for using an electronic device while driving.

It starts with Roxanne Rockwood, 37, of Springerton down in White County, who was arrested on February 21 on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of  Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She posted bond and was released.

Feb. 22, David Phelps, 62, Salem, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Driving While Driver's License Revoked. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. He posted bond and was released.

Feb. 22, the Clay County Sheriff's Office received a report of a motor vehicle accident at 2:44 p.m. on Highway 45 south of Flora. Apparently Peter Ray, 59, operating a 2018 International Semi Truck/Trailer, was travelling south on U.S. Hwy 45, lost control of his vehicle and entered the ditch causing Rt 45 to be closed for several hours. No injuries reported.

Feb. 23, Jamie Colclasure, 28, Edgewood, was arrested on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Bond set at $5,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She posted bond and was released. 

Feb. 23, the Clay County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle accident at 3:24 p.m. east of the intersection of U.S. Hwy 50 and Mayflower Lane. Apparently Jennifer Gibbs, 45, Olney, operating a 2015 Ford Edge was stopped at the construction site east of Clay City on Hwy 50, going east and was struck by another eastbound vehicle operated by Jonah Liston, 21, Olney. Liston was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident. No injuries reported.

Feb. 23, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy cited Dillon Beccue, 25, Edgewood for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol and Speeding. He was given a Notice to Appear and released.

Feb. 24, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Levi Byers, 26, Louisville, on an outstanding Clay County Contempt warrant. Bond set at $150.00 cash. He posted bond and was released.

Feb. 26, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy cited Blake Fitch, 22, Flora, for Improper Lane Usage. He was given a Notice to Appear and released. 

Feb. 27, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy arrested Gayla Glowacki, 54, Flora, on an outstanding Clay County warrant for Failure to Appear on the original charge of Retail Theft. Bond set at $3,000.00 (10 percent), plus $75.00 warrant fee. She posted bond and was released.

And finally, on Feb. 27, came the citation that many police departments/law enforcement agencies just don't bother with: That was when a Clay County Sheriff's Deputy cited Douglas Westall, 57, of Olney, for Use of Electronic Communication Device while Driving. He was given a Notice to Appear in Clay County Court.
