WHITE CO., Ill. - The car burglars/thieves are at it again.
Carmi police were called to the residence of Lonnie Duvall , 56, of the 700 block of North Fifth, yesterday (Thursday, February 22) at 10:30 a.m.
Duvall advised that some time during the night of the 21st, someone unlawfully entered his car parked in front of the house and stole his prescription pain pills and the SD card to his Lanzar multi-media stereo.
A report was made and police are investigating.
Out on the 1100 block of Valter Drive in Carmi, Annealeia Lewis, 19, and Nicholas C. Tate, 28, met with the officer. Lewis stated that the vehicle that was accessed, a 2009 Ford Fusion, belonged to her and was parked in the driveway. She said that at some point in time between approximately 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. last night (Feb. 22), someone entered her vehicle without permission. Lewis stated she believed she had locked the vehicle's doors, but after seeing no forced entry into the car, she believed it was possible she'd left it unlocked.
Lewis stated she became aware of the situation when she observed the glove compartment was open, and a bag which had been located in the rear seat of the vehicle was now in the front passenger seat. Lewis and Tate stated the only thing missing from the car was a Bushnell 1250 lumen flashlight with he stated had been inside the bag that was now in the front passenger seat. Tate also located an item in the bag that didn't belong to either him nor Lewis, and they didn't know how it came to be in the vehicle. That item, which was undisclosed in reports, was taken and entered into evidence. Lewis also stated that she didn't see any damage on either the interior or exterior of the vehicle.
The two were advised that an incident report would be made. Law enforcement always welcomes information on these issues, and you can contact the sheriff's department at 618-382-5321.
