WHITE CO., Ill. - A gentleman from Galatia was sleepy last night, according to Illinois State Police, while he was driving on Illinois Route 141 in White County...and that condition lead to a rollover crash.
ISP said that the accident occurred last night on 141 about an eighth of a mile west of Healy Road at 10:14 p.m. Monday, February 19.
According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, Daniel W. Stidman, 60, of Galatia, was westbound on 141 at that location, driving in his red 2000 Ford F-150 pickup, when he fell asleep.
The Ford exited the roadway to the north, struck an embankment and overturned multiple times, before sliding across both lanes of traffic and coming to rest in a ditch on the south side of the roadway.
Stidman was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash; ISP said he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department, Omaha Fire Department, Norris City Fire Department and Deaconess Ambulance Service.
Stidman was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
