GRAYVILLE, Ill. – A K-9 sweep at Grayville’s high school resulted in contraband being located in an instructor’s vehicle.

The sweep occurred yesterday (Wednesday, December 13) when Grayville Police Department along with several K-9 units from surrounding departments conducted a detail at Grayville High School.

During the detail, K-9s were used to conduct a sweep of the school and school grounds for any illegal drugs, according to police chief Roy Mann.

One K-9 did alert on a 2008 Jeep owned by Nancy B. Robinson from Carmi. Once making contact with Robinson it was found that less than 2.5 grams of Cannabis along with a smoking device was recovered from the vehicle.

Robinson, who is the Ag instructor at the school, was cited for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

No other items were found or recovered in or outside the school.

Mann, on Grayville PD’s Facebook page, expressed his thanks to all the participating department K-9 units that assisted in the sweep. Those included Edwards County Sheriff Department, Mt. Carmel Police Department, Carmi Police Department and Robinson Police Department.
