WABASH CO., Ill./GIBSON CO., Ind. - A local man sitting in an Indiana jail was informed that he's now being charged in Illinois.
David M. Blanchette, 28, of Mt. Carmel, was hemmed up in Gibson county, Indiana, a year ago on pot and paraphernalia charges.
On September 11 of this year, he had entered a plea to both and began serving a two-month sentence at the Gibson County Jail in Princeton, Ind.
However, ongoing investigations into the horrible dope problem we're currently experiencing here in southeastern Illinois got Blanchette, and today it was announced that Blanchette has been charged in his home county of Wabash on a count of Delivery of Meth, a Class 2 felony.
Authorities say that as soon as Blanchette is finished with his GibCo sentence, they'll transfer him to Wabash County in Mt. Carmel, where he'll be held on a $4,000 cash bond.
No court date in Wabash has been set. Wabash and Lawrence seem to be ground zero for an epidemic of ice and opiates coming in from Indiana, and we're keeping up with it...be sure you pick up our print editions or read what's in print at the e-Edition (just click the links) so you won't miss anything...and feel free to issue YOUR comments or opinions here or at any of our social networking pages, as we know this dope epidemic is impacting us all.
