WABASH CO., Ill. - Wabash County Sheriff Derek Morgan and his department dealt with a bizarre situation yesterday wherein a man was allegedly attacked with a hammer over a motorboat.
Sheriff Morgan said that yesterday (Tuesday, August 22) the Wabash County Sheriff's Office responded to IGA in Mt. Carmel to take a report of an alleged battery. The deputy spoke to the victim whom, had obvious wounds to his head and broken out windows of his 2004 Chevy Aveo.
The deputy, assisted by the Mt. Carmel police department, went to the residence at 10418 N 1250 Blvd., Mt. Carmel, and spoke to occupants about the alleged battery.
It was found that the victim went to the Randi and Willard Lewis Jr. residence over accusations of a stolen boat motor. While at the residence the victim was struck in the head with a hammer while sitting on the couch as well as having the windows broken out of his vehicle.
Randi Sue Lewis, 46, of Mt. Carmel was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery and criminal damage to property for her part in this incident. The investigation is still ongoing additional charges are possible.
Lewis is being held in the Wabash County Jail awaiting the setting of bond.
