EDWARDS CO., Ill. - A local man who was successful in the sport of competitive wresting up in Joliet as a youth is now offering his skills to downstate kids, and he's got a growing following.
Scott Cuff has Team Cuff Tigers, a youth program which is part of the Illinois Kids' Wrestling Federation. Cuff has been supplying the youth of the area with access to the sport of wrestling for the past three years; he holds practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He's now holding a registration at the First Christian Church in Albion on September 9th and 23rd, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Signup is a $75 registration fee, which covers the USA Wrestling card, a team shirt, and a team bag. Registrants must compete in upcoming matches. There are girls' teams, and Cuff said he has eight girls already signed up to wrestle this year, one of them his own daughter.
As well, Cuff is looking for individuals or businesses to sponsor the traveling and operating costs and supplies; he can be contacted at 618-919-2147. Cuff said his group participates in activities in the community, and that the program is a great one for not only giving kids something to do, as well as is invaluable for discipline, training, and self-respect, as most sports do for youth in the area.
Here are some pics of folks who have participated in this worthwhile endeavor; please consider a sponsorship, and if you have a kid interested in the Edwards County area, mark your calendars for the sign-up!
