JEFFERSON CO., Ill. - The men involved in the three-semi crash yesterday morning have all been identified by authorities, including the driver of one truck who was killed in the incident.
Illinois State Police in District 13 out of DuQuoin worked the wreck, which occurred in the southbound lane of Interstate 57 at milepost 82 in Jefferson County.
ISP said the name of the man driving the red 2015 Volvo truck-tractor who was killed in the collision is Richard Stapleton, 49, of South Haven, Mississippi.
Stapleton's vehicle ran into a truck that was stopped in traffic on 1-57 because of construction. The truck he ran into was an orange 2018 Western Star straight truck being driven by Gregory Lofton, 58, of Gray City, Georgia. Lofton's vehicle was behind another truck stopped in construction traffic, a white 2015 Freightliner being driven by Joshua Myers, 28, of Dothan, Alabama.
No citations have been issued in the incident. Lofton and Myers were treated for minor injuries.
