CARMI, Ill. - Carmi as well as White County authorities were called to a location in town last night where they took a man into custody on an outstanding warrant.
Carmi Police Chief Jason Carter said that police responded to a residence on the 800 block of Fifth Street yesterday (Wednesday, July 12) at about about a quarter after 6 p.m.
Upon arrival they found Jedidiah D. (JD) Burnett, 39, whose residence was listed as the same as the scene of the altercation, and Candace R. Masterson, 34, of a rural address in Burnt Prairie.
Police report that Burnett was standing on the front porch of the residence. Police exited the patrol vehicle and told Burnett to stop as he was walking to the front door of the residence. Burnett complied with the officer's orders and the officer was able to place handcuffs on Burnett, which was done in the front as Burnett was reporting pain in his arm.
Deputy George Spencer assisted with the arrest. Burnett is in White County Jail on a $3,500 bail ($350 cash).
Burnett's warrant was on felony Aggravated Domestic Battery; no charges had been filed formally as of this writing, so it's likely a very new charge. Look for updates in the next print edition, on stands August 2, 2017.
