WAYNE/CLAY COs. – The Wayne County punk who managed to wrangle a light sentence out of newly-seated Clay County prosecutor Joel Powless in December found himself behind bars in his home county in early June.
Michael Keyser, 18, is one of the handful of rotten kids who fancied themselves some sort of white bread version of the downstate area’s gangbanger wannabes when they got into trouble back in early October 2016 after an incident in front of the Clay City Post Office that ended with a brief search into a nearby cornfield.
Ty Riley was the other named teen in the incident involving stolen firearms, cannabis and a fight as well as damage to the front of the post office. Sadly, two juveniles were also involved in the incident.
Keyser took a plea December 21 in Clay County to one of the weapons charges and almost immediately set about trying to violate the terms of probation. He was arrested in February in Wayne County after an altercation involving David Hudgens, 19, Michael Dirden, 20, and Jamie Church, 40. Keyser managed to squeak out of that.
He couldn’t squeak out of the next thing that came along, however…at least not yet.
On June 6, Keyser and another Wayne County kid, Dylan L. Cool were arrested after they were reported to have been involved in a burglary of a residence belonging to Cary Church (no indication of how Cary and Jamie might be related.)
Keyser was jailed on arresting charges of Residential Burglary, Possession/Delivery of Meth, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His arrest provided the fine zombie-like mugshot as seen on page 24 of this issue.
As of press time, the only charge that had stuck when it got to formal counts was the Burglary one.
Also as of press time, Powless hadn’t made any moves toward revoking Keyser’s probation, but there’s a really good likelihood that that will be underway soon.
